Glastonbury Festival postponed for 2020

26 March 2020, Comments: Comments Off on Glastonbury Festival postponed for 2020

The Glastonbury Festival, Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset Wednesday 23rd – Sunday 27th June 2021

According to Glastonbury’s Michael and Emily Eavis, ticket holders for the event have the option of “rolling over” to 2021 meaning, the next one will still be the 50th Anniversary celebrations (if in name and not actual date!).

This is going to be pretty commonplace across the events industry for the time being with other events like The Olympics, Premiership football, Wimbledon, The O2 Arena and others, being pushed back for a few months or a year.

For 2019, there were brilliant blue skies, dystopian raves, lusty choruses, funk and soul sets, mystical rabbit holes, litter picking poets, Eavis as Elvis, Capaldi as Noel, Chris Martin as, well, Chris Martin.

There were the headliners and the new acts, the epic singalongs and the secret sets.

To put it in Emily Eavis’s words just after the 2019 event, it was;

‘Without question, the best Glastonbury ever.’

How to top that?

Word on the fields is that 2021 will be the UK’s answer to Woodstock, a culture defining moment for our generation (With some seriously prestigious artists!).

Already confirmed for 2020 were artists including;

  • Kendrick Lamar, Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift have been confirmed as the headliners of Glastonbury 2020.
  • Diana Ross will play the Sunday Legends teatime slot.
  • Over 90 names have been added to the line-up for the 2020 festival, including Dua Lipa, Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, AJ Tracey, Fatboy Slim, FKA Twigs and many more.

With so many stakeholders involved with the event, The Glastonbury Festival’s 50th Anniversary for 2021 at Worthy Farm can’t come around quick enough.

Dates (TBC) for The Glastonbury Festival, Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset are 23rd – 27th June 2021
